Footble is FourPlayers’ daily football word game. Every day there is one five-letter footballer’s name to find, the same for every player in the world, and you have six attempts to get it. After each guess the board colours every letter: green means the letter is correct and in the right position, yellow means it is in the name but somewhere else, and grey means it does not appear at all.
The twist that separates Footble from a standard word game is that every valid guess must itself be a footballer’s name. You cannot probe with generic dictionary words; you have to think in surnames. That makes opening strategy its own little art. Names rich in common letters, with a vowel spread across different positions, will cut the field fastest.
The daily puzzle resets at midnight. Anyone can play without an account, and signed-in players keep a full record: games played, win percentage, current streak and best streak, plus a spot on the daily speed leaderboard. One puzzle per day, no replays until tomorrow, so a wasted guess stings just enough to matter.
