The board: Oscar Gloukh (Ajax), Thomas Lemar (Girona), Granit Xhaka (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Antoine Griezmann (Barcelona). The clue pointed at 423 Barcelona appearances, seven La Liga titles and a Champions League - but the trap was the Girona and Ajax slots, both from ter Stegen's post-Barcelona wanderings rather than his prime.

The board: Andreas Pereira (Fulham), Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich), Xavi Simons (Tottenham) and Nuno Mendes (Sporting Lisbon). A holding midfielder hidden behind four attackers - and the clue about scoring on the final day of 2025/26 to keep Tottenham up sent plenty of people hunting for a striker.
Week 4 · 3-10 August 2026
The board: Enes Ünal (Getafe), Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton), Kike (Eibar) and Raheem Sterling (Chelsea). The clue was simply "se bebe una Estrella" - if you know, you know. The Eibar slot was the one that unlocked it: Cucurella's loan season there is the forgotten chapter of his career.

The board: Sadio Mané (Liverpool), Wout Weghorst (Ajax), Danny Welbeck (Sunderland) and Reiss Nelson (Brentford). The clue recalled his most memorable moment of the 2026 World Cup - falling over an advertising board. The Ajax slot carried the puzzle: many people never registered Henderson's Amsterdam spell at all.

A midfielder whose career quietly threads through four leagues. Merino's Newcastle season is the link most people forget, sandwiched between Borussia Dortmund and his Real Sociedad years before Arsenal.

The original. The board: Arthur Masuaku (Olympiakos), Chancel Mbemba (Anderlecht), Evandro (Red Star Belgrade) and Michael Olise (Crystal Palace). The clue - "I most recently played in the UAE Pro League" - was pure misdirection by omission, since everyone remembers the Palace penalties and nobody remembers what came after.
